Significans Automation to Play a Leading Role at New AI Pavilion at PRINTING United Expo

October 14, 2025 – Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most important technologies created in the past decade. Experts believe that nothing similar will likely come along again in our lifetimes. AI will offer printers a massive competitive advantage, but only until this technology becomes an industry-wide standard.

Recognizing this opportunity, Mark J. Subers, Chief Innovation Officer at PRINTING United Alliance, organizer of the annual PRINTNG United Expo, has unveiled an exciting new addition to its 2025 event. The new PRINTING AI Pavilion (booth 4255) will be a “central hub” exploring how AI is radically transforming the printing and packaging print industries. This new area will showcase AI applications, highlight the latest solutions from pioneering exhibitors, and deliver expert panel discussions from the tradeshow floor. Attendees can engage with sponsors like Significans at dedicated kiosks, interact with curated educational content, and explore the new AI Wall – a visual guide to all AI-focused technologies being displayed at the tradeshow.

“We’re delighted to be chosen as one of the ‘pioneering exhibitors’ and to take part in ‘expert panel discussions’ with other industry authorities about the enormous untapped benefits of AI technology in print,” says Significans President Marc Raad.

Building AI into customized workflow automation

“At Significans, we are driven by the conviction that customized automation in an AI era is the ONLY path forward to future-proof a printing business – especially in a complex, rapidly evolving industry,” Raad insists. “We see AI accelerating innovation, improving decision-making, and delivering efficiencies once thought impossible. However, the true potential of AI depends entirely on the client’s commitment to it, as well as a thorough understanding of what it can and can’t offer. Integrating AI into a client’s unique production environment is a complex, labor-intensive process. It requires careful planning, a deep understanding of the client’s workflows, and vast vendor-neutral knowledge of all software options on the market today.”

A standout example of AI’s impact is Significans’ client work with online signage printer Work House Signs of Pottstown, PA. They reduced four months (3,024 hours) of job processing to just six hours by deploying a highly customized workflow automation in combination with the AI app, Fuzzy Matcher. “The new customized software freed up labor to focus on growth,” shares President and Owner Rob Cole. “This, I believe, will eventually allow us to boost our sales tenfold.” Fuzzy Matcher will be one of many AI solutions featured at Significans’ kiosk and during its panel discussion Wednesday, October 22.

Significans leverages AI to streamline workflow processes

Significans integrates various AI strategies into workflow automation schemas to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve overall productivity-all based on client needs and current technology maturity:

– Significans utilizes Narrow AI to automate narrowly defined sets of tasks within a workflow. For example, AI can handle repetitive chores such as prepress checks, layout optimization and smart ganging.

– General AI, currently in implementation form, can simulate thought processes within the workflow by reverse-engineering production practices. This involves using a series of conditional statements to automate decision-making tasks. For instance, during the preflight stage, AI automatically cleans up and fixes files before they proceed to production, ensuring they meet quality standards without manual intervention.

– Significans’ custom solutions will eventually leverage Superintelligent AI to perform tasks at speeds beyond human capabilities, particularly in workflow computing. This allows for faster processing of massive volumes of data, enabling faster turnaround times and improved print production efficiency.

Significans has been deploying AI technologies, such as Aggregate AI (patterning), into its workflows for some time now. Patterning (or Aggregate AI with Advanced Logic) leverages advanced logic and pattern-recognition capabilities. This approach allows Significans to, for instance, analyze large datasets, convert legacy data, identify meaningful patterns, and make informed decisions based on data insights.

An enormous competitive advantage

“In the coming years, AI will be one of the print automation advancements that can change the industry, globally,” Raad added. “Printers should investigate the enormous benefits of the various AI platforms right now. Currently, about 70% of a printer’s files can be handled by AI. Despite this, an enormous percentage of North American printers, 80%, haven’t even begun to use the technology. The bottom line is that AI is here to stay, so printers should get on quickly.”

The Significans Automation kiosk (booth 4255) is a valuable place to learn about AI-driven efficiency improvements for any printing business. They will also be joining Enfocus (booth 2004) as a Platinum partner, certified App Creator, and Tier 1 global integrator for their portfolio of award-winning software.
