Addressing Workforce Development with Continuous Learning and Automation
It’s hard to believe that it’s Expo month, but in a few short weeks, thousands of people will flock to Orlando, Florida, for PRINTING United Expo, taking place Oct. 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center.
In this week’s newsletter, we’re focused on workforce development and automation.
At the Expo, there will be the annual Student Day taking place on Thursday, Oct. 23. Students and educators will have a dedicated tour and show experiences to further expose them to the industry, technology, and global leaders. Wide-format Impressions recently published an in-depth look at student day and Printing Impressions released an Expo Shorts podcast with Jules Van Sant, vice chair of the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF).
Over on Apparelist, Kristine Shreve, founder and CEO of Kristine Shreve Consulting, penned an article “6 Tips to Promote Education and Growth in the Printing Industry.”
If you’re unsure of where to begin, a great place to start is on iLEARNING+, which offers courses and certifications built for the printing industry, from printing 101 courses to in-depth OSHA and AI courses.
It also matters that employees feel supported once they join an organization so we not only attract new talent, but retain them. That’s why In-plant Impressions offers the advice to “Put People First” in an article by Wes Friesen.
Because the printing industry, like many others, is experiencing labor challenges, automation has become a necessity.
Packaging Impressions offers advice for automating offset and flexo printing operations and Printing Impressions shared a video with Alliance Insights Principal Analyst Lisa Cross, who shared results from two recent reports detailing how commercial printers are retooling, automating, and expanding to stay ahead.
While at the Expo, take some time to sit in on some of educational sessions to expand your understanding of workforce development and automation opportunities.
Remember, you can start planning your experience today. Make sure to download the Mobile App and start saving booths, events, and sessions to your “Show Planner.”
See you in Orlando in a few weeks!
